Coffee Rubbed Roast Beef

While working at The Adel Center which was an Assisted Living Facility one of the other cooks made a coffee rubbed Prime Rib Roast and the flavor on the crust of the meat was outstanding. I took that concept for last night's dinner and transitioned it to use on a small sirloin roast that was about 2 1/4 pounds.
  • 2 tbsp. ground espresso coffee
  • 1 tbsp. granulated garlic
  • 1 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. coarse ground pepper
  • 1 tsp. table salt
In a small bowl mix all the ingredients then rub the entire roast, pressing and rubbing as you go. It's as simple as that. You can also use this for any cut of steak.

Just look at how this sirloin roast beef came out - perfect medium rare.  I roasted this hunk of beef in our Showtime Rotisserie oven for approximately 50 minutes.

We served the beef with baked potatoes and a side dish of Sweet Baby Peas and Caramelized Onions. It was so delicious. Follow the link to this incredible side dish recipe - quick and easy.

This roast was large enough to feed six portions. The roast cost $6.79 on sale ($2.99 per pound) and feeds six for $1.13 each. So yes, there are times you can buy beef and feed your family well. A baked potato is about 20 cents for each person and you can make inexpensive side dishes. The roast, baked potatoes and plain baby frozen peas for six come to a total of $10.28, feeding each person for $1.71.
