Teriyaki Cube Steak Dinner
I am a huge fan of the cube steak. And I love my home made Teriyaki Sauce, but for this recipe you use your favorite.
- 1 cube steak per person - 4 total (If the steaks are large, cut them in half)
- 1 red bell pepper - seeded, veins removed and cut into strips
- 1 green bell pepper - seeded, veins removed and cut into strips
- 1 large sweet onion - peeled and sliced in half moons
- 2 or 3 large baking potatoes - scrubbed and cut into strips
- 1 cup oil for frying
- 3 tbsp. Teriyaki Sauce
- 1 tbsp. butter
- salt and pepper to taste
- In a frying pan that has heated over medium low heat, add in 1 tbsp. butter. When the butter is melted and the frying pan is hot, add in the onions and peppers and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Saute the onion and peppers until they are tender but not mushy. Transfer to a plate or bowl and keep warm. You can use the same skillet for sauteing the cube steaks.
- Meanwhile, heat your oil and begin the process to get your potato strips fried.
- Make sure your potatoes are dry before frying. In a deep skillet heat the oil over moderate heat until the temperature reaches 350 degrees. Fry the potatoes to a crisp golden brown and drain on a paper towel. Sprinkle with some salt and transfer to a warm oven while you saute the cube steaks.
- Over high heat, heat the skillet for the cube steaks. When the skillet is screaming hot add in the Teriyaki Sauce. Turn the heat down just a tad and add in the cube steaks. Swirl in the Teriyaki Sauce and brown for about 1 minute. Turn the cube steak over, swirl in the sauce in the pan and cook for 1-2 minutes more.
- Remove from the heat and bring all the other ingredients out and plate your dinner.
I told you it was easy.
Easy and quick and something a little different.
