Helpful Tips on Freezing Proteins
If you follow my menu planning ideas you should not have to freeze meats longer than two weeks.
- Do not freeze pork if at all possible. Not only does the meat loose flavor, the freezing process makes it harder for you to get a juicy and more tender piece of meat. If you have to freeze it, use it within a 1 week period if possible.
- With the exception of ground beef, beef looses flavor as well. If you must freeze it, use it within 1 week if possible.
- Poultry does freeze well. Despite that, I do not keep poultry in the freezer for more than 2 weeks.
- Use the FIFO Rule (first in, first out). Label packages with freezer date and a use by date.
