Helpful Tips on Freezing Proteins

If you follow my menu planning ideas you should not have to freeze meats longer than two weeks.
  1. Do not freeze pork if at all possible. Not only does the meat loose flavor, the freezing process makes it harder for you to get a juicy and more tender piece of meat. If you have to freeze it, use it within a 1 week period if possible.
  2. With the exception of ground beef, beef looses flavor as well. If you must freeze it, use it within 1 week if possible.
  3. Poultry does freeze well. Despite that, I do not keep poultry in the freezer for more than 2 weeks.
  4. Use the FIFO Rule (first in, first out). Label packages with freezer date and a use by date.
