The Silver Spoon

Let's face it, we weren't all born with a silver spoon in our mouths as the expression goes. There are quite a few who were and have had it easy all of their lives. For the rest of us we have earned every penny we have made by blood, sweat and tears. Some are lucky to achieve greatness coming from a background of nothing. Oprah Winfrey is one of those people who come to mind very quickly. Another success is Sandra Lee on the Food Network. Neither of these women had much of anything growing up. They climbed the ladder of success and achieved greatness with hard work and determination. What they lacked in money they made up for with brains - sharp, clever and creative minds. Not to mention being in the right place at the right time.
And there are those of us who are lucky enough to receive a silver spoon from one of their children. My son Jon gave this to me when I opened Deep River Provisions a long time ago now. There is an engraving on it which says:
Deep River
Est. 2003

My business was cut short - too brief a time being opened.  This is a piece of memorabilia from that time and it was given to me by a very special person. Thank you Jon for preserving the memories for me.
