SUPER BOWL EATS
Well the "big game" is coming up very soon. February 1st to be exact. This is the game ending series of the NFL season in the United States. It's where two top teams compete to become the NUMBER ONE team in the NFL. Do I understand the rules of football? Not really. It's not my number one sport to watch and not really number two either. However it is the number one sport of millions of people. And even those like me get into watching this fantastic display of grit and athleticism displayed on the football field this one time during the year.
The buzz surrounding just how these teams got into the playoff for winner takes all has been hyped by the media and I am sure that fans or so-so fans like myself want to see the outcome of this game. The New England Patriots have been in the Super Bowl 7 times - seven times! Out of the seven they have won three. And for the other team, the Seattle Seahawks they won the gold last year and made it back this year for another shot at winning and stealing the show. So far seven teams have won back to back championships and it's yet to be seen if Seattle will as well.
The other big thing for people on Super Bowl Sunday are the parties and gatherings and tailgating that happens all across this nation. Food is king on this day and everyone puts their best foot forward in making some delicious and tasty treats for their guests or to bring to a friends home.
I put together what I believe to be a great Super Bowl collection of recipes that will wow your family and friends.
You may want to have something hearty in your crock pot warming during the game so guests can get some whenever they have the urge. Chili is absolutely a favorite of many. I think both of these two scrumptious recipes work. First up is Cowboy Chili which is easy to put together a day in advance. It's filling and delicious and can be served up with some Easy Sweet Chili Cornbread which is really easy and very inexpensive to make.
For an alternate or additional warm "meal" that can also be made a day ahead is my rich, creamy and flavorful New England Clam Chowder. The soup is thick and chock full of good clam flavor and your guests will just love this.
Go a different route and do these Italian Stallion Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. Make them and cut them in quarters as a tasty bite for everyone to enjoy. They are out of this world delicious with the combination of salami, provolone and roasted peppers on ciabatta bread!
You just can't have a party without some dips now can you? Instead of the hum drum been there done that layer dip, why not introduce something new like Easy Hot Cheddar Bacon Dip? This recipe is a cinch to put together and it's so tasty too. Or perhaps you want a little bit more traditional and if you do, then you must try my Quick and Easy Artichoke Dip.
I was totally satisfied and amazed with this next appetizer. Southwest Cocktail Meatballs. Just the perfect snacking meatball for any occasion. Truly a delicious and nice change of pace from Swedish Meatballs or Italian Style Meatballs. The flavor in these is fantastic and you won't be able to stop eating them.
This next recipe I made again this weekend. Garlic Herb Cream Cheese Dip (I should have called it spread.) I absolutely nailed the flavors of the store brand in this recipe and made it for a lot less. When I tell you this is addicting, it's no lie. Amazing flavors that when spread on a cracker (or a car bumper for that matter) - well let's just say this is a must have for the snacking part of your buffet.
