Brie and Strawberry Jalapeno Crispbread Snacks ~ and a friendly game of setback!

We have a group of friends and we love to get together at each others homes and play setback (It's a card game just in case you don't know.) It's generally a men's versus women's team and outside of enjoying a night of wins, losses, bragging and teasing we mostly enjoy the game night snacks that everyone brings!
One of our game players recently lost his battle to cancer. Our friend Steve loved to cook and he had a very special hot crab dip that was amazing! I tried to replicate it and came close, but as the expression says, "no cigar". Well despite our loss, we are looking forward to getting together and I am sure we will spend some of the time reminiscing Steve stories.

I took a ride to my Walmart Super Store to pick up groceries for dinner and some ingredients to make some game night snacks. To my cart I added some fresh strawberries and a couple of rounds of Brie cheese figuring I might make Brie in puff pastry. As I continued to shop I spotted Smucker's Fruit & Honey Strawberry Jalapeno Fruit Spread in the jelly aisle. Then I thought, hmm....how can I use this new Smucker's product in a recipe? I had no immediate clue, but added a jar to my cart any way.

Then just ahead was the aisle with crackers. BAZINGA! There they were - Wasa Multigrain Crispbread. All the tumblers in my brain clicked and I came up with this idea for Brie and Strawberry Jalapeno Crispbread Snacks.

You can easily find Smucker's Fruit & Honey Strawberry Jalapeno Fruit Spread in the Jelly aisle at Walmart and conveniently located ahead were the Wasa Multigrain Crispbread in the cracker aisle.

What you will need:
  • 1-2 pkg. Wasa Multigrain Crispbread
  • 1 jar Smucker's Fruit & Honey Strawberry Jalapeno Fruit Spread
  • 1-2 rounds of Brie cheese
  • 1 container fresh strawberries
Step 1: You have to remove the rind from the Brie cheese. To do this, wrap it in a couple of layers of plastic wrap and freeze for an hour or more (Longer is better as freezing the Brie helps you in removing the rind). When you take off the plastic wrap, use a serrated knife to remove the rind. First, set it on its edge and remove the top layer. Do it again for the bottom layer. Then carefully remove the outer rind from the circle. If you don't get every speck of rind off, don't panic; it's okay!

Steps 2 and 3: Slice your Brie as evenly as possible and place the brie on the Wasa Crispbread. How many slices you add is your discretion. After you have washed and hulled your strawberries, slice them then add slices (again how much is up to you) on top of the cheese, or take a berry and slice it so you fan it out then place on top of the Brie cheese. Bake at 350° for about 15-20 minutes until the Brie has melted.

Step 4: As soon as they come out of the oven, generously top with the Smucker's Fruit & Honey Strawberry Jalapeno Fruit Spread and serve immediately.

I can't think of a better combination for Wasa multi-grain crispbread than to bake them topped with a good melting cheese like Brie and adding some fresh strawberries and then finish with Smucker's Fruit & Honey Strawberry Jalapeno Fruit Spread as soon as they come out of the oven!

The jalapeno really shines through on this NEW Smucker's fruit spread - it's so good!  You get that strawberry flavor as well and then it is naturally sweetened with honey which makes it so much better for you. Smucker's offers other varieties of these new fruit spreads and I can't wait to try them all! How about you? What would you make with these new spreads? I'd love to hear from you.
