Labor Day 2012 Menu

Are you getting ready for the last blast, big bash picnic of the season? You will probably be inviting guests who are willing to bring something to the picnic table. In addition you may want to think about what you might add to the party. Here are some suggestions and they should all link right to the recipes.

Summer Tomato Tart
A super recipe for using up the last of the garden tomatoes.
Sweet Chili Chicken Wings
Try these out for your picnic - wonderfully flavorful and something a little different.
Tuna Macaroni Salad
My homemade tuna macaroni salad is a tasty, inexpensive dish that can be made ahead.
Grilled Baby Back Ribs
The recipe for my barbecue sauce is contained in the post for grilled baby back ribs. If you are on a tight budget and ribs are not in the equation, perhaps consider using a good kielbasa as a substitute or chicken.
Peach Apricot Sauce
This sauce recipe could be used on ribs or chicken.
Caribbean Marinade
The Caribbean marinade is good for pork, poultry or fish.
Ready in A Jiffy
Our store had a sale on Jiffy Corn Muffin mixes - 4 for $3.00 = .75 cents each.
I like a sweet cornbread, so I added 1/3 cup light brown sugar to the manufacturer's ingredients and then followed their directions for milk and egg. Think of making plenty of these for the table as they go with just about everything. If you want to make a different flavor, add in some other spices like cayenne pepper. Throw a tiny can of corn (drain first) into the mix. Add in some grated cheese or diced peppers. Be inventive.
